Summer 2020
These are some personal illustrations I did in the summer of 2020 amidst the unrest that was going on in the US. I wanted to use what small platform I had to celebrate some of my favorite black creatives. Along with the illustrations of people, I was commissioned by a local business to create a poster for their bathrooms to encourage safe practices.
I wanted these to be a mix between a vintage bespoke feel and modern screenprinting. The original plan was to get some of the illustrations screen-printed onto bandanas, but as of now, that hasn't happened yet. My friend 6ixx, a local Columbia artist, poet, and storyteller was able to turn the illustration of him into a shirt that he could sell at storytelling/spoken-word events to allow him to grow his platform and do more activism around columbia.
